On Tuesday, April 1, the City Commission approved the purchase of new software, Oracle Permitting and Licensing (OPAL). Over the next year, City staff will work with Oracle and the development community to design and implement an online system that will support residential and commercial developments with an intuitive online portal and application process. These processes will guide applicants through permit requirements or obtaining licenses.

The system will be designed to automate approval workflows and the scheduling of inspections in order to keep projects moving. Customers will have real-time access to status of developments, from pre-applications to plan review and the issuance of a building permit. This solution will help streamline development review and processing permits, licensing, inspections, and code enforcement. City staff anticipates the system to go live in the summer of 2026.
